The Land of Horchata, Mexico / TULUM

April 14th, 2016 by Christel Pixi · No Comments · Family, Travel

My long awaited Post on Mexico. I had to postpone it a little, since the urge to going back was so F* crazy, that I couldn’t skimt through the pictures without checking when the next exotic flight was leaving from Copenhagen airport.

We travelled 6 adults and Benny. Since he wasn’t 2 at the time, he didn’t get his own seat, and for those of you who have met him, he is the size of a 3 year old. I felt claustrophobic right as I entered the plane, where I had to spend 12 hours with numb legs. BUT, then the cabin crew were awesome, and gave Benny his own seat. And he was a trooper, almost the entire way, THANK GOD for online entertainment! We arrived at Cancun airport, exhausted! We found our ride to Tulum ( I ordered this beforehand, since we were so many people, we were picked up by a little bus), and on we went, a 2 hour ride. And just like that we went from cold and rainy Copenhagen to this amazing and beautiful country Mexico.
In Tulum we stayed at Los Lirios, right by the beach and everything was SPLENDID! We unpacked and explored.
Benny was super excited this was totally new to him. I was even more excited to just let him lose, without packing him in onesies, hats, jumpers and gloves.
We had breakfast at the Hotel in the morning, and from there we just chilled, went to Tulum city, swam in cenotes and cave dived. We got a hook up to a local can driver and his son, they took us to some local spots and cenotes, and they were so F* awesome and kind. They also drove us to Chiquita, when we were going to Isla Holbox. I can recommend that, don’t plan your tours ahead, check out your area, talk to the locals and have them recommend things to do and see. We definitely enjoyed every moment in Tulum. Though I must say, Tulum was quite expensive, when you hang out at the Riviera area, Tulum city not so much.
Tulum was Beautiful and the beaches too, but I felt even more in love when we cam to Isla Holbox. More on that later.. For now enjoy
